Sano was a California Nisei who sailed to Japan in 1939 to become an adopted son of his childless Aunt and Uncle. He was fifteen and knew no Japanese. In 1945, loyal to his new country, he was drafted and sent to Korea. It was his bad luck to belong to a unit that surrendered to the Russians.He spent almost three years in POW and Labor camps in Siberia.

Blue cloth with pictorial cover. Very good , tight condition with a small tear at top of the spine which has been repaired. It is inscribed to W. J. Daughtery from the author in pencil in F.E.P.. Daughtery was the a Colonel and later a General. He also has tipped in a full page handwritten letter from Cutchins to the inner cover. It is difficult to decipher all of it ,but apparently they had a correspondence going on. It is on Cutchins` s letterhead and dated Jan1,1941.
